If you actually read some of the blurbs and jibbajabba I put up here, you might have noticed my passionate love for hamburgers, something I actively spread and for which cause I try to convert as many as possible. Hamburgers or hell!
So, today we´ve got a nice little joint NCS-DMB contest. Great prize. Little effort. Ideal for metalheads! Read on read on read on

I’ve got a peculiar one here. A band called The Way of Purity: no names, no nationality – though Encyclopaedia Metallum says they’re Swedish and so does the extension of their e-mail addres; yahoo.se – no faces, but balaclavas instead. And not only that, but also military clothing and boots, making them look like a paramilitary militant brigade of some kind. I hope they won’t somehow retaliate for my positively constructive – at least that’s how I intended it – criticism on their debut release Crosscore.

We’ll do a bunch of crack shot live performances today, just because we can. And you know what else? We’ll keep ‘em all in the progressive department to one degree or another. Piece by piece these are bands and musicians that you won’t be able to copy with a few weeks – or years for that matter – of practice. These are cream of the crop. So pay attention to those guitar fingers and lightning fast drum sticks. Pay attention to the amazing sound and crispness of these performances. These artists aren’t admired for nothing you know.
So, we stick to progressive metal. What’s the first band to pop into your mind? Dream Theater! So we’ll put that one up first for ya. Then, we have a bunch of geezers from a UK prog rock band called Porcupine Tree with a great song. And finally we have my all-time guitar idol, Mr. Joe Satriani, who will easily and happily demotivate any beginning guitar players with his fuck-me-I’ll-never-be-able-to-do-that playing.

Some more batched and bit-ready music for you. We’ve got monkey-inspired Stoner from the UK. Then, we’ve got something that actually isn’t too far away in the way it sounds, though it’s much heavier: Byzantine. Let’s call it stoned Death-groove metal or something. They come in with a song called Redneck War. Third and final is a Dutch band named Detonation. Boom!
I came onto all of these bands through No Clean Singing – as said before, very cool site! Credit where credit’s due, so thanks guys!

The term “folk metal” will probably induce thoughts of European bands of pagans with braided beards that haven’t had a wash since the turn of the millennium that make Celtic, Viking or other historic peoples inspired music, where they’ve really just added some old instruments to a ragingly wild band of metalheads. Generally speaking of course. In Peru, Ch’aska do it no differently, excepting that they use a bunch of different instruments. Charango anyone? Quena then? Zampoña?

I’ve got an album here by a bunch of countrymen of mine. The four-headed Posthuman, from the northern city of Groningen – try pronouncing that when you’re drunk – recently self-released its debut album Rise from Ruins, after starting the band in 2007. The conclusion on this baby: if these guys continue as they have, they are bound for a whole lot of recognition in the world of metal.

When you run a site like this one, a MySpace page is a good way to get into contact with bands and musicians. I’ve had one for a while and managed to get a lot of stuff done using it; think reviews and interviews. But, it’s also a handy way for bands to get into contact with me. I get several “friendship invitations” every day from bands across the globe. Some have just started out and have nothing but a shitty demo and others have been in the business for years.
Today we’ll treat a couple of the most recent friends I’ve made. We’ve got Sin of God, Hungarian old-school Death Metal with an anti-religious message. Then we’ve got some American from California that have troubles staying serious – metal is a serious business as you know. And finally we’ve got something Dutch with a rather low metallity grade.

Some things are just metal, despite the fact that they’re not even music. Hamburgers, which I’ve so frequently discussed, are very metal. Anyway, at No Clean Singing – very cool site – they’ve got a whole category dedicated to it. To add to it, what’s also very metal is putting your friend on an airbag and launching his head up against the ceiling while laughing his broken neck away. A bit like this really. Go read/watch!

Just as promised, some more quality contributions by CroOZza! All quality indeed. First one is some very speedy Canadian metal out of Vancouver: Zimmers Hole. Second is Kryoburn, American industrial metal. And finally we’ve got something Finnish by Stam1na. Three times quality.

CroOZza is the name of a (very) frequent contributor of music here on The Baboon. The guy just sends packs and packs of links with fresh metal bands. Of course we greatly appreciate his efforts and keep on posting his stuff. Hell yeah! Today we’ll do a little CroOZza tribute pack by giving you only bands that he contributed. So, given the fact that CroOZza’s “droppings” are always of exceptional musical quality, you’re in for a treat!
And you know what else is good? We’ll do another pack just like this tomorrow! But today we’ll serve you some Human Ground (Estonia), some 2nd Suicide (Finland) and finally some Mytra (Hungary) for desert.
