Album Teaser: Anachronaeon – The Ethereal Throne
![]() |
Over two months ago we put up a post featuring the song Mary of the upcoming Anachronaeon album, The Ethereal Throne. The band in question, formed by just two dudes, Patrik Carlsson and Andreas Åkerlind, we’ve discussed multiple times before, including in a review of their previous album, The Futile Quest for Immortality and in the review of the latest album of the band’s Black Metallic alter ego Eyecult, titled Morituri te Salutamus.
And we tend to fuckin’ like these guys’ work. They employ the music to get a message across. In other words, they deal conceptual albums. Focusing on Anachronaeon, that was already so on The Futile Quest…, but they’ve taken their conceptual nature further on The Ethereal Throne. Quoting our quote from the mid-December post about the song Mary, the album will be “about a serial killer, committing murder in the name of God”. Patrik about the record after I complimented him about the shear awesomeness of the concept: “Yeah I like to think in the grey area. Not everything is black and white… but of course it’s an anti-religious concept taken to the max”.
Today we do something we don’t regularly do: we throw you an album teaser. Not in the form of a single song (May was already that), and not in the form of 30 seconds of fragments over a “Buy me” background image either. Instead, Anachronaeon has chosen to upload nearly 15 minutes of sample material on YouTube. It contains “a minute or two of each song of the album”. As such, it’s actually pretty damn listenable and it will also give you a taste of the great Blackened Death Metal material this two-headed band produces.
Well, that’s really pretty much all this post is. The Ethereal Throne will be released somewhere in 2011, by Stygian Crypt Productions. Keep an eye out on the band’s official website here.
