Ascariasis
According to Facebook, this Canadian Prog Death outfit is led by Sharlie Cheen. If that means their practice space is crowded with skanky bitches, I say these guys are living it. However, I doubt these chaps will need the US’ number one alcoholic and drug abuser to get their daily shot of tits and ass. They’re in a band, and a damn good one too. That pulls chicks across the line.
Anyfuck, what I like to focus your attention is the music they make: a richly filled cocktail of viciousness, brutality, melancholy and ass-kickery. The band has released a few tracks throughout 2011, available on their BandCamp. One of those we wrote about earlier.

Some months ago the band came out with a new song, a first single to their upcoming Ocean of Colour EP, to be released not too long from now, I imagine. The song’s called Shatter, and as a major fan of the now unfortunately defunct UK band Viatrophy, I’m hearing a hell of a lot that I’m loving. One of those things is the vocal effort made by a dude named Evan Watton. They are so low they are just barely in the audible sound spectrum. They are also brutal as an angry elephant bull in a room full of newborn intensive care units. The band also offers a similar but different alternating mix of chugging riffs and atmospheric melody lines. Have a bite!

I know Ascariasis from their earlier work. They’re pretty tight.

This sounds like the weird child of Gorod and Born of Osiris, and I mean that a a compliment. Had a really intense listen here!
