Autolatry – Of the Land
A couple of weeks ago we had a feature on The Hill, debut full-length from New England based Black Metallers Autolatry. In a comment thread to that post the guys from the band enlightened us to the fact they had a new EP coming and it’s since become available. Of the Land is the title of this four song offering of what I’m going to call Progressive Black Metal and it is an improvement on their already excellent craft.

Autolatry has delivered nicely polished production and a well balanced mix on Of the Land. Every instrument is clearly audible making their cohesiveness as a unit really shine. From the more straight-forward Melodic Black attack of opener Mountain, which features some stand-out dynamic cymbal work, to the seamless weaving of styles in Oak and the spacey prog segments of Stag, through the rockin’ blackened grooves of Snow, these guys have nailed it. Top-notch musicianship and strong songwriting make this release a must have for any metalhead.
Autolatry Bandcamp and Facebook await.

I was thinking of doing a mini-review (since something so great couldn’t pass by so silently), but Byrd36 beat me to it HAHAHA.
