Welcome to metalheads from Beirut, Lebanon. Kimaera are the first band from Lebanon to arrive here on The Baboon, so that´s extra special. They produce a very nice piece of atmospheric doom/Death Metal. This particular track is called The Taste of Treason, found on their latest, Solitary Impact, released just last month. Lots of speed and chaos in the beginning, then soothing calmness in the mid- and later sections. You’ll have to excuse them that the guitar solo isn’t completely in key. That’s short enough not to matter much anyway. |

Yesterday was a relatively quiet day on The Baboon, sorry ’bout that. But we’ll make up to you today by throwing a couple of extra ones out. We’ll start the fun with Shaded Enmity from the US. Starts off a bit chaotic, continues in a somewhat chaotic way for a few good minutes and then ends suddenly. It’s not terribly loud though, not like technical brutal Death Metal or anything. In fact, the atmosphere is more in the direction of black metal. A tough one to crack then, but that’s no biggie, because you’ve got a long Sunday ahead of you and lots of time to digest it. Hijo Perdido is the title track of their upcoming release. |

Arsis has been here before but I’m serving up some fresher material. Escape Artist comes from their latest album Starve for the Devil released earlier this year. Beautiful, catchy, melodic, technical Death Metal. |

Just feel compelled to add another one by Decrepit Birth. This one’s from their previous album though, Diminishing Between Worlds (2008). This one’s titled Dimensions Intertwine and it’s fast, aggressive, loud, harsh, crude, but oh so awesome! |

Americans Process for Enigma started out in 2008 playing Technical Death Metal. This is the title track of their Seeds of Evil EP, which is, as far as I can find, their only release. |

This one’s a little different from your average metal. Sort of an in between gothic and industrial metal, with a pinch of electronics (not too much, don’t worry). Backdoor Syndicate is a Moldovan formation. This track is called Hearts2Hearts, off their 2010 We Bring Victory EP. |

Do you like Viking metal? I do! I’ve got some German Vikings today, playing their stuff with a distinct dark/black angle of attack. Thrudvangar, formed in 1998, came out with their fourth full-length, titled Durch Blut und Eis (German for ‘Through Blood and Ice’) in January of this year. This one’s titled Überfahrt (‘crossing’ or ‘transit’). |

Mantic Ritual formed in 2005 as Meltdown then changing names in 2008. These American thrashers have released an album titled Executioner under both names. The 2009 release contains one extra track including Panic. |

We’ve already seen a review of Masochist, the second album from American brutal tech Death Metallers Domination Through Impurity, here on The Baboon. Now have a taste of it via the song Path to Righteousness. |
