Death ‘n’ Roll has been taken to new heights with this recent début album of ambitious Slovenians by the name of Hellcrawler. Wastelands takes the template of Death ‘n’ Roll à la Entombed and then adds an interesting mix of Sludge, Crust-Punk and D-beat. If you can get that around your head, then read on. Free music inside!

Basilisk is a name used by several bands. This one is from Japan playing blackened Death Metal since 1997, though they’ve only managed to get out one demo EP in 1999. Titled Kyo-Ja it features Bear One’s Suffering.

English metallers Contaigeon formed in 2008 and recently put out an album of old-school inspired Death Metal titled Death at the Gates of Delirium. They Who Gnaw the Bones is from that album which the band offers for free download at their bandcamp page.

If you like old-school Swedish Death Metal in the vein of early Grave, Entombed and Dismember then Torture Division is for you. Formed in 2007 they have several demos, of which all twenty-one tracks are available for free download at their website. America’s Malignant Tide are a thing of the past. They only managed to put out a demo in 2008 titled The Surrealist Metaphor which contains the song I missed the Lunar Eclipse.

Sweden’s 6th Awakening have been making melodic Death Metal with a mix of clean and harsh vocals from their female vocalist since 2001. So-far they’ve only managed three demos, Tongue Reaper is off of the second one (2004) Perfect War, though the band is offering their most recent demo, Deadincide, and this video for free download.

India returns to The Baboon with 1833 AD playing melodic Black Metal since 2004, though they’ve struggled with line-up issues. 1833 AD is the song that inspired their name and should be contained on their upcoming debut release titled My Dark Symphony.

Oh yeah, I just ran across this English band called Hail of Fire playing some smokin’ Death Metal with a fast groove to it. Formed in 2006 and featuring ex-members of Death Metal pioneers Cancer they’ve only released a demo EP titled Darkest Days, of which we’ve got the title track here.
