Celeste
As you probably know, Chief Baboon Niek is off on a well deserved vacation, so I’m going to throw you a couple of quick snacks over the next few days. Quick because I’m crunched for time myself in addition to having a shorter presentation style. So let’s just get to it!
Celeste is a French band described as Black Metal/Hardcore in the Metal Archives. Now, it may be that my experience listening to Hardcore is very limited, but I don’t get the Hardcore vibe from Celeste. I do get the Black Metal vibe and a healthy dose of sludgy grit, which is possibly slowed down Hardcore(?). I also get a strong French vibe, because every word is in French, which means that I don’t know the first thing about what’s being said, but I love the way it’s being said.

Ces Belles de Rêve aux Verres Embués is the opening track from their latest album, Morte(s) Nee(s). It’s a pretty good representation of their Black Metal side with some haunting guitar melodies and catchy riffage accompanied by solid humming bass lines and well driven beats.
All of Celeste’s albums are streaming and freely downloadable at this page and you can keep up with news via their Facebook.
