Chain Reaction – God Lives Too Long

Their new label in Asia put me onto this Polish pack of five. Again, as we’ve had them before on The Baboon. Storming out of Warsaw since 2002, Chain Reaction – a name which they share with a bunch of other bands – has slowly managed to make a name for itself. Though their 2006 release ‘id’ landed them a load of shows within Poland, the album’s less-than-half-an-hour duration proved an obstacle for getting a good record deal.

So, for 2007’s album, they just added about fifteen minutes of tunes and voilà, a deal was struck with Italian label Kolony Records, with which they later also aired their 2009 record.

So far the background sketch. What about the product? Well, it’s a type of kick-in-the-scrotum Heavy Metal. Balancing on the brink of becoming Extreme Metal (mostly Groove Metal in that case), but actually much louder and more aggressive than many Melodeath bands that are considered Extreme, their caliber can be compared with that of old Five Finger Death Punch for example. Largely riff-based and with no shortage of blunt aggression.

Like said, we already plugged a song of their, Values, from their 2007 album named Vicious Circle, which was back in July. Figured it’d be nice to absorb something of the latest, Cutthroat Melodies (2009), this time. Strangely enough though, I couldn’t find anything already available anyway. So, I briefly felt my cojones and then took the liberty of uploading a song myself. Track’s called God Lives Too Long, the album’s third track. Can be called Groove Metal already.

If you liked it, drop by on their MySpace, on which you’ll find links to buy their stuff, as well as another great video of a 2007 song called Stark Reality. Over and out!

Damn… Poland’s been offering some kick ass metal that isn’t Vader or Behemoth in the past few years or so. Best known is probably Riverside and there are also Votum, Proghma-C and now Chain Reaction. And there are many more to explore.

Absolutely. Loads of good stuff coming out of Poland. Check the “Polish” tag in the left menu bar if you want to have more.

You mentioned a few new ones for me too if I haven’t just forgotten their names. I should check those out.

Looks like I have some catching up to do. Decapitated slipped my mind, but I haven’t really had a chance to give them a proper listen yet. And I feel kinda bad for not mentioning Perihellium. Though flawed, The New Beginning was pretty good and from what I’ve heard so far of their full length (release set for next month), they’ve learned a helluva lot since then and have emerged as a much more mature and skilled band.
