Infinite Tales
A quicky that I came across when I was surfing YouTube the other day. As is usually the case I haven’t the slightest idea how I came to them anymore, but I did like what I heard and so saved it up for now.
The band is called Infinite Tales and they’re from a place called Kyyiv, a.k.a. Kiev, a.k.a. the capital, in the Ukraine. Infinite Tales came to be in 2007 and has release an EP, single and one full-length, entitled Only the Beginning, so far. The song I discovered is from that album and it’s called Running Away.

Apart from its great catchy lead guitar work and melodies and the hoarse vocals by a guy named Zolik, the main factor pulling me towards this stuff are the female vocals. And that’s rare, because normally female vocals in Metal, unless unclean, give me scrotum itches. The girl (nick)named Kiwi doing them in this band manages to give me itches in a different place but in the same general body region though. But without fuckin’ about, she really lays down some great vocals and they take the music up a few levels.
Mind the nifty hooks and fills in the music too, there are plenty of those and they’re like jus on your mashed potatoes and sausage I tell you. With quality Metal like this, I think this indeed Only the Beginning for them. I’ll just feed you the song now.

You’ve definitely found something something. Like you said, the female vocals are the factor that makes this song work.

Very good band. I too don’t like female vocalists much – especially the operatic soprano wailing style of Tarja Turunen and her clones.
For me, what makes this band is the precisely interchange between the harsh male and the clean female vocals. If it was only the guy singing, I would maybe listen to this; if it were only the chick, I’d definitely NOT want to listen to this. The two of them = good.

@VS: have to say I like that ReVamp song. The riffs and bass lines on that are super tasty! Vocals are not really my thing as you say, but they’re alright.

Hmm, I listened to a few more Infinite Tales’ songs, and have to admit they all sound rather the same, invoking boredom after a while. But “Running Away” is a good song, though.
