A pack of music videos for you again. We’ll start with some Florida speed metal with an incredibly amateuristic music video (but hell that’s usually fun). The second one is also from the American Sunshine State, but their style is something completely different: a bit of melodeath, a bit of thrash, a bit of black, lots of tempo and some pinches of chaos. Third is some Finnish symphonic, melodic black metal, because for real, Fins just seem to just have to add melody to anything they make. And we’ll close off with some more-than-ordinary American metalcore.

Predator – Closet Anti-Christ

Who wouldn’t like a band called Predator?! Fans of John Legend most probably, but those aside. Predator is the type of name that attracts metalheads and – quite frankly – I’m amazed that this name was still available when this US speed metal formation set out a few years ago. Sure, the name had been in use by a different US band in the eighties, but they never made it this far.

In any case, the name was available and four Americans, fronted by a Nicaraguan started using it in 2007 to market their classic power metal product. The Floridians have got a second album coming up soon, but their first one, self-titled, was released in 2009. It contains an effort named Closet Anti-Christ for which they even did a video clip. Well, sort of; it’s not the most professional of clips, but let’s just laugh at the amateurism – actually you really shouldn’t, because it’s aimed against domestic violence against, and abuse of, women – and enjoy the music, alright? If nothing else it means they haven’t been wasted by commerce yet!

The Fevered Circle – Regurgitated Past

They named themselves after an At the Gates song, but their style is different to say the least: back-of-the-throat vocals, as if from a dedicated black metal outfit, and raw and quick guitar play with melodic touches. Regurgitated Past serves well to illustrate this. Break part, but also the rest, could have been quite addictive if not for the simple production.

What these guys need then is either a deal with some record company or a big pouch full of cash so they can afford their own professional producer. The danger with the former is that they get steered in the direction of becoming yet-another-average-metalcore band, something they show not to want to be. So, in the end it all comes down to: hold on to your own direction, invest and work hard!

Oh, and am I the only one who thinks the album’s cover art was made by someone drunk, high on drugs (several different typs) and in a severe mental shock? ;)

Alghazanth – Antithesis

Alghazanth’s Antithesis is a song found on their 2001 Osiris – Typhon Unmasked album, which was the third one they released. It obeys all the general rules of black metal: Satanic, occult, dark: makes you want to kill yourself. Yeah! In case you do make it to the end of the song, pay attention to the ending. Best part if you ask me!

You’ll have to dig through some grand piano and organ emulation of a keyboard, but who cares. Let’s all be merry, joyful and sing the praises of the Dark Lord. Or, if you’re totally not into that – and in all honesty I’m not myself, though I like the music – skip to the next band. It’s just that simple.

The Agony Scene – Rapture

Something of the other end of the metallic spectrum we find in the form of The Agony Scene. It’s American metalcore, from the state of Oklahoma. And of the good sort too. Unfortunately they are no longer together though. Had a bit of a habit out of breaking up.

Get Damned was the latest album they came up with and it contains a little something named Rapture. Something I really like actually. You may too!

Thank the great CroOZza for this delicious desert!

There is still a MySpace Page by this band!
