One Man Show (Pt. 4)
Welcome to the fourth installment of this series. A series focusing on single musicians that prefer to do their thing alone instead of with annoying band members. Three such artists are Sami Anttila and Liquorworks from Finland and Nimbatus from Germany. For a change, the three gents are not found operating in the Djent area. Instead, they play various other forms of Metal. What exactly those are you’ll experience in the following.

Sami Anttila – See Through the Lies
Should the name Sami Anttila sound familiar, this may be because you remember a short post about him. It’s been nearly a year since that one, and all that time the dude’s been busy. The result is his debut record See Through the Lies recorded and released.
The album is a collection of new and older songs. Songs that he’s been releasing on either singles or EP’s since starting out in 2002. Guitars and bass are him. Drums are from a computer. And where many a one man band would leave it at that, Sami also took a mic in his hands and violently emptied his throat in it. If for some odd fuckin’ reason you don’t dig his vox, or if you’d rather do without, you can download the whole album in instrumental form here.
But just see how you like those vox first, alright. We’ve uploaded the album’s title track for you.
Lastly, visit his Facebook page to stay updated on what else this dude’s cooking up.
Nimbatus – Fractured Vision
We step out of Finland for a moment, and move to Germany, where Nimbatus has its base. I couldn’t make out from the information dump who or what is behind the name. But one thing is certain: he/she/it knows how to write interesting songs. The style isn’t easy to describe. Nimbatus calls himself a transformer of darkness and sadness into music. In my own words I’d call it Doomy, Progressive, partly Symphonic Dark Metal.
The songs generally have a very dark atmosphere and slow rhythms, but still very complex. No vocals this time, although it would definitely give the whole a bit more variety. This could change in the future, who knows, but for now you’ll have to enjoy the albums just the way they are. There’s three of them at current, called Cyclus One, Cyclus Two and, who would’ve though, Cyclus Three. Any wild guesses about the title of the next one in the comments please. Anyone who gives the correct answer will receive all three of the albums!
In fact, don’t even bother with giving the answer. Just go and download them all, legally and for free, at the dude’s Bandcamp page. They’re not available on physical copy anyway.
The following song is called Fractured Vision, all his other songs can also be streamed at the above Bandcamp page.
Liquorworks – Conduct
Back to Finland, to Liquorworks. Having stated that this band is a one-man project is actually not completely true, as besides founder Kosti Aho also a dude named Panu Rauhala participates. We just don’t give a fuck. Two is hardly enough either.
Moreover, the main chunk of the music is done by Kosti, who operates the seven string and takes care of programming. His colleague, with the keyboard, is responsible for the atmospheres, which can, as typical for Progressive Metal, be a bit chaotic and tight. Shouldn’t in any way be considered a bad thing though! On the contrary, it gives the whole a completely different face.
You should be able to hear this from the song Conduct, for which we spared costs nor trouble to present here exclusively. Not that there were any costs, because both albums and one EP released so far can be gotten for free through here. Conduct is found on Liquorworks’ second album, Nonsense, which, in my holy opinion, is better than the first one because it’s fully instrumental.
Then finally, to save you from having to search, and simply to be complete, here are the links to the previous three One Man Show episodes: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3!

All three are awesome, but I like the last one, with its thick, nearly tangible, dark atmosphere and stroboscope riffing, the most.

Actually Panu recorded only keyboard solo to song called “616″.

Well, I’m hoping you can forgive me that. It’s always hard to get enough info’s about such unknown bands like yours. I guess it’s not the only untruth I wrote in this series.
But thanks for your hint!
