Remembering Our Fallen Brother – Peter Steele
One year ago today the Metal world was rocked by the loss of Peter Steele, best known as the frontman of Type O Negative, though he was also their bassist and composed the majority of their music aswell. Peter was 48 when he left us of heart failure, ironically, after a period of sobriety and improved health. I’d like to present a couple of music videos in his honor and memory. Even if you aren’t a Type O Negative fan, please, take a moment to remember a fallen brother in Metal.

Death is a subject that is recurrent in Peter’s songwriting (and so much of the other music we love) meaning he left us with an abundance of material suitable for remembrance of him and others. Everything Dies is a song that reminds us just that, everything dies. This one featuring a fan made tribute video, since embedding is disabled on all the official video versions I could find.
One more, this time showing Peter’s humorous side. The full version of this song runs at eleven minutes and fifteen seconds, but the music video is trimmed down to under five. So here’s the video for Black No. 1 off my personal favorite Type O album, Bloody Kisses.
We love and miss you Peter, Rest In Peace brother.

Though I have not, in recent years, listened to Type O Negative so much, they were definitely one of the metal bands I listened to before I even listened to metal. I think these guys should get a place in the Valhalla of metal, with Peter Steele’s dick firmly planted in the mash potatoes. He seems like he might appreciate doing that.

He did have a legendary sense of humor and you have to be careful when doing a Google image search for him, you’ll likely get his dick firmly planted in your eye!
