Rockin’ Out With W.A.S.P.
Back in August of last year we featured a live performance of Animal (Fucks Like a Beast), the song that placed W.A.S.P. in the crosshairs of the P.M.R.C. (Parents’ Music Resource Center), who are responsable for those “explicit content” stickers that we know and love. W.A.S.P. is also among the first bands along my journey into Metal, though, by today’s standards they are Hard Rock with a Metallic flavor. So, today we’d like to feed you a few songs from their twenty-nine year career, as some classic Rockin’ Out material.

We’ll begin with Hellion from their self-titled 1984 full-length debut. We’ll then skip eight albums and seventeen years ahead to the Unholy Terror album for Charisma. Lastly we’ll Rock Out to Babylon’s Burning from 2009′s Babylon album. Hope you enjoy this journey with W.A.S.P., one of the longest lasting bands of their era and an influence and inspiration to more modern Metal bands than imaginable.
By the way, it’s never been positively disclosed what W.A.S.P. stands for. Some say We Are Satan’s People, others say We Are Sexual Perverts and a few think it’s White Anglo Saxon Protestants. I somehow seriously doubt it’s the latter. It has also been said that the name was inspired by the wasp insect and that placing periods between the letters made the name stand out. Either way, W.A.S.P. has definately been a standout among their peers.
