EmpatiC

Tue, 03/04/2012

I’m dealing with limited intel here, as Encyclopaedia Metallum seems to have been brought down by the FBI – wouldn’t worry too much yet, it’s April 1st – and the band’s own Facebook page contains a bulleted time line that I’m basically too lazy for to read.

I’m not completely in the dark though. I know EmpactiC is Polish and consists of five dudes. And that the band was formed in 2005 and has recently released its debut full-length. This album is titled Gods of Thousand Souls and contains eleven songs of a crusty sort of Melodeath. Has a bit of an Old-school flavor to it too. The album was released through Terrasound Records from Austria on January 20th and is distributed through the German Twilight mail-order company.

Album Review: Sadistik Forest – Death, Doom, Radiation

Mon, 02/04/2012

My first encounter with Sadistik Forest was through a sample of the above album, which raised my interest. However, I had to beg Niek for it in order to get Death, Doom, Radiation in my lap, but it has been worth it, because this album is a tiny little gem in the big sea of Death Metal releases.

This album delivers us a pounding old-school Death sound, which gets me bouncing up and down each and everytime I spin Death, Doom, Radiation. The style of Thrash-infused old school Death Metal isn’t new, but the songs are memorable and this is actually a really sophisticated record. With Sadistik Forest, it’s all in the little details, as the awesome logo shows too.

Mortification uploads new video of their upcoming album!

Fri, 30/03/2012

Mortification have passed by before here at the Baboon, but as I commented before the last five albums put out were kind of crappy. Although now I’ve kind of changed my opinion on some of these albums, Scribe of the Pentateuch is different, as I’ve heard from the recently uploaded song The Jaws of Life.

This song actually makes me quite excited for the album. I’m actually hearing blast beats for the first time in almost 20 years, which is a good thing. The vocals still haven’t returned to the full death growl on Scrolls of the Megilloth, but it’s definitely growly and gutteral. Shame the song is so short, because now I have to wait for another two days to hear some more, as the release date of this album is the first of April.

Black Breath

Tue, 20/03/2012

Nearly two years ago we served up a dose of Black Breath by way of their song Razor to Oblivion which is the title track of their 2008 EP. In 2010 they released their first full-length Heavy Breathing which we neglected to cover, but with the impending release of the follow up Sentenced to Life just a week or so away, what better time to get these guys back on your minds?

Get Tortured

Mon, 19/03/2012

This is just a little friendly reminder that Cannibal Corpse released their eleventh full-length nearly a week ago. Titled Torture it is Cannibal Corpse doing what they do best, straight up Death-fuckin-Metal. If you’re not a fan of CC Torture probably won’t win you over, but if you love their riff-fest style and horror themes don’t pass this one up. A couple of tracks await you ahead along with the uncensored album art, which for some reason I haven’t seen anywhere else.

Noumena Lives!

Sat, 17/03/2012

It’s been quiet for a long while with Noumena. At least as far as any releases from the Finnish Melodeath outfit go. Their last official release stems from 2006 and is called Anatomy of Life. Then things turned relatively silent, though the band is still doing gigs and does the occasional post on its website. Apparently, Rufio is a guy that regularly checks into that site, because he spotted a new song there that was aired in late November. He spotted it in early January already, it’s my fault that we didn’t run this post any sooner.

At this point I have absolutely no clue what’s going to happen with this song. New EP? New album? Beats me, all I know is that the song exists and I don’t feel attracted to the thought of digging out the rest. Don’t have time for it either. But if any of you knows more, please don’t hesitate to share! Hooray for lazy bloggers!

Zelophilia

Fri, 16/03/2012

The power of humor should not be underestimated. I got this request today to check out a band’s (actually it’s a one-man project from what I gather) new album. There was a link to a ”silly commercial for it”. I clicked it, thinking I’d get to hear a few tunes that would allow me to let the guy know either ”no, sucks!” or ”yes, but don’t fuckin’ wait for it”. Instead, this thing cracked me up and landed Zelophilia an instant post.

A short one though, ‘cause I gotta run. But I’ll feed you the commercial first. Watch it and then see if you’d care to check out the music after the jump.

Your Pain is Endearing

Fri, 16/03/2012

That’s a four-word, descriptive title and so my first thoughts were that I’d be dealing with another half-arsed American Deathcore band again. Wrong! At least partly. Yes, this material is American, the band is from Boston, Massachusetts, but no this isn’t really Deathcore and it’s certainly not half-arsed. The band itself describes their game as ”modern Death Metal” and state that ”they do not seek to follow trends”. That’s good, I like bands that find their own path into global appreciation.

Your Pain is Endearing was formed in 2008, combining a blast-in-the-mouth brutality with pure aggression and also ”technical mastery”. Sounds like a billion notes per minute then, doesn’t it? But the truth is that these guys haven’t lost track in their search from churning out the most complex sequences of notes in the most teeth-breaking manner and are building songs that work.

Yeah, it’s Demonic Resurrection Again

Thu, 15/03/2012

That’s twice in two days. Not only because the band in my most holy opinion is a metaphorical hot piece of ass, but also because today’s video wasn’t released too long ago and I feel bad about having missed it before. I’m a sloppy motherfucker sometimes.

Demonic Resurrection Airs a Bunch of Live Vids

Wed, 14/03/2012

And that was nearly three months ago. Just didn’t have time to cover them any sooner. And I don’t really have any now either, so I’ll just dump you a pile of vids to keep you occupied. Go be a good boy – or girl – and entertain yourself with this great fuckin’ Indian music!
