Chain Reaction – God Lives Too Long

Fri, 19/11/2010

Their new label in Asia put me onto this Polish pack of five. Again, as we’ve had them before on The Baboon. Storming out of Warsaw since 2002, Chain Reaction – a name which they share with a bunch of other bands – has slowly managed to make a name for itself. Though their 2006 release ‘id’ landed them a load of shows within Poland, the album’s less-than-half-an-hour duration proved an obstacle for getting a good record deal.

So, for 2007’s album, they just added about fifteen minutes of tunes and voilà, a deal was struck with Italian label Kolony Records, with which they later also aired their 2009 record.

Industrialized (Part 1)

Thu, 11/11/2010

When I looked at my list of bands that I still want to post, it occurred to me that several of them can be shoved under a common Industrial/Cyber Metal genre. We like common grounds as a good excuse to bundle stuff, so that called for an Industrial Metal post! And because there are so many of such bands, I’ve decided to divide them up into two posts.

So, when you, like me, are a great fan of Metal with big use of keyboards, synthesizers and other electro-gear – or when you want to become such a fan – you’ll hopefully strike a bonanza here. In the first part, we’ve got three bands from Eastern Europe, namely Illidiance and All for Fake from Russia and Cruentus from Poland.

Polish Metal!

Thu, 09/09/2010

Thursday, September 9th. But you knew that. For me it’s still Saturday morning and I’m quickly trying to get another post up for my time away. As said, I’m in Poland (coming back tonight, your tonight, not mine at this moment), in the town of Zakopane. So, I deem it quite fitting to throw out a load of Polish bands today.

We’ll kick off with thrash metal that’s gone industrial. The band to make it is called Saratan, which apparently is Cancer in Arabic. Sick! Next is Vader, a pioneering group in the death-thrash department. Finally: Made of Hate, melodic Death Metal from Warsaw.

Behemoth – Alas, Lord is Upon Me

Wed, 18/08/2010

Behemoth has been seen here before and probably isn’t new to anyone but they’ve recently put out a new album (Evangelion) and this video for Alas, Lord is Upon Me. Besides, you can’t have too much fuckin’ Behemoth.

Moon – Unholyblood

Tue, 10/08/2010

Here! Have some Polish, slightly symphonic, black metal. The song Unholyblood is found on Moon’s remastered 2010 compilation album titled Devil’s Return, their first release since their reformation in 2009 after splitting up ten years earlier. In about a month they’ll start delivery of their fully fresh full-length Lucifer’s Horns, so keep an eye out if you like this stuff!

Acrimönia – Story of Evil

Thu, 22/07/2010

Acrimönia hail from Poland and have been making progressive Death Metal since 2002. 2007 saw the release of their second full-length effort Beethoven is Dead from which we have Story of Evil.

Chain Reaction – Values

Thu, 08/07/2010

Heavy metal mixed with thrash and a singer that’s louder than average. I’m speaking about Poland’s Chain Reaction here, a band that has been in force since 2002. Vicious Circle (2007) was their debut release and contains Values. High eartastiness factor!

Thank you CroOZza!

Lost Soul – Personal Universe

Sat, 03/07/2010

My favorite Polish band: Lost Soul, playing lightly technical Death Metal with a spicy sauce of old-school. In 2009 they came out with Immerse in Infinity, their fourth full-length. Also check out …if the Dead Can Speak and the album’s studio report! All very tasty! This one’s called Personal Universe.

Neurothing – Macheta

Tue, 29/06/2010

Neurothing formed in 2004 in Poland and so-far have released an EP and an album of what I hear as progressive groove metal. Give a listen to Macheta from their 2005 EP Vanishing Celestial Bodies.

Album Review: Sinful Carrion – Arising from a Shallow Grave

Mon, 28/06/2010

On The Baboon today: a Polish newcomer band called Sinful Carrion. Their first EP, Arising from a Shallow Grave was released earlier in 2010, promoting them as a band and displaying their headbattering style in the process. I’ve had a chance to listen to the five-track EP and will report to you now.
