The Baboon wrote a song. Well, actually, he wrote it quite a while ago, some 6 or 7 years I’d estimate. I just had my guitar back then and was taking lessons with a private teacher and all. Now I just discovered a tape with a song on it that I wrote and recorded with the teacher back then. Decided to digitalize the bugger, before the tape would complete its process of decomposition. |

With the reviews I’ve been doing I’ve been passing judgement on bands and artists that have loads more talent than I have, so this is a nice opportunity for you to discover that I really can’t do any better myself. I wasn’t a metalhead yet back then, but it has some metal riffs nonetheless. Nothing too virtuoso, believe me. What you’re hearing is a drum computer, my guitar teacher doing the solo (improvised) and me doing all other guitars. Quality of the sound is utter crap, which is due to the fact that the tape was bad already and I had to copy it off that again.
I’ll tell you what. If you (and your band) can make a new, nice recording of the song (with your own twist and lyrics would be even better), then I’m sure I can find some nice CD’s for the best entry as a reward. Think Demonic Resurrection (complete with poster, sticker and some guitar picks), Red Descending, some other stuff and maybe some Dark Tranquillity. If you can’t tell what I’m playing by ear, let me know and I’ll let you know how I played those riffs!
PS: I put this in the talented “amateurs” section, but it’d have been better put in a “talented” amateurs section!

I really don´t know, maybe I´ve heard he chord progression sometime but I have no clear picture of why I recognize it

It sounds like Iron Maiden meets some punk band. I would I have record it with pleasure, but not the style of my band ^^ Sorry baboon. Nice shot even though !

Actually someone is currently working on it. First result sound great. We’re developing an idea to turn it into something bigger. Can’t say too much about it yet though

I actually really like the tone on this! Though it sounds quite a bit more 1960′s rock than anything…but good 1960s rock!

Glad you like it. I wrote it well before I started listening to Metal, so that explains it. The other part of the explanation is that I suck too bad on guitar to be able to play any riffs quicker than these.

It’ll be pretty cool alright, first takes sound awesome. But it’s also still going to take a while.
