The Passing of DMB

‘Oi chaps. Yours truly with the pink bottom has a bit of good and a bit of bad news. The bad: DMB will cease to exist, or at least go mute from now on. What we have will remain – at least for the time being – but no new content will be added.

But, all downs have an upside. Some of you might have already witnessed the birth of The Monolith in which a bunch of Metal blogs have unified under one banner. ToReignImmortal, Angel and myself have joined up with them and will continue our blogging efforts there.

It’s been almost three years since I started DMB here and even though the last few months have been relatively quiet, it’s been a great part of my life over the course of those years. But, with our small mass and busy lives, this change might have been inevitable. Once upon a time our days were full of empty hours. Today jobs and studies take up most of these. Joining The Monolith gives all of us a great opportunity to continue blogging, against the backdrop of a (much) higher professionality and readership. A chance we just couldn’t let fly by.

Over the course of the current weekend, a whole bunch of introduction posts of all of The Monolith’s new writers will air. The three of us will be among them. Meet us there and pledge allegiance to The Monolith and the mere expense of your soul. Also, stay Metal!

Thanks to all of you for sticking with us over the course of DMB’s existence!

Now that it’s ‘over’, I think I should say thanks too.

I know I never quitted DMB officially, but I kinda did already a while ago, just by not caring about it anymore. Which does not mean I’ve never visited it since then.
There where different reasons for that which I don’t want to point out here.

    To keep it short.
DMB was my first experience in writing about music and I thank you, and especially Niek, for making this possible.
Wish you guys the best in this new project and maybe we’ll read us again.

    Cheers! :-)

Since I moved to my new home, and even in the time leading up to the move, I’ve been overwhelmed with workload and new found responsibilities related to living in this development which have stripped me of my time I used to use for contributions to this site. I have been checking here daily and saddened by the long silences which I’ve not been able to interrupt. I will very much miss DMB, but I’m very excited for and proud of you guys making the leap to The Monolith. I know its been a long time coming and promises to be an asset to the world-wide Metal community and you guys will definitely be an asset to it.

    Your brother in Metal,
    Byrd

It’s unfortunate to see the Death Metal Baboon end. I wish you the best on The Monolith. I’d love to join you on there. Unfortunately, I can’t afford the sign up fee.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the love. I kinda hate to let it go, but I know it’s for the best. The Monolith will give us a much better platform for our writing.

@BreadGod: even if you don’t apply for a paid membership, you’ll still be able to read stuff there. But not to worry, it won’t be terribly expensive! The price of a few beers.

    Hello!
Don’t see any contact address at your blog.
    Contact me for collaboration please.
    Thanx!

Thanks for your efforts with this website guys. I have discovered a shit load of great bands as a result of this page (Sylosis, Textures, Universum, etc, etc, etc) and have found stuff on here that I have been able to find nowhere else! (which is kind of annyoing).

See you on the new site.

    Peace

    Hey mate,

Thanks for the kind words! For now I’ll keep the site online as a sort of repository. I’ll reconsider when my hosting package comes up for anual renewal (November), so you’ve got plenty of time to dig through about 3 years of daily metal servings.

    Cheers!
