Winter Crescent – Battle of Egos, Part I
We got a friendship invitation the other day by a Greek band, named Winter Crescent. Strange name for a band coming out of a country where the average temperature in any month seems to stay well above zero degrees Celsius (for all you Fahrenheit fans, that’s when water freezes). Anyway, usually we don’t bother much with friendship requests – we accept them, but don’t do much more than that – as we prefer to wait for explicit review requests. After all, we’ve usually got enough bands on our list to take care of for centuries to come already.
However, with Winter Crescent something in our inner being told us to play a song before clicking the closing cross on their profile page. Well, needless to say, we enjoyed what we heard!

It was some nifty Progressive Metal that came crawling into our ears as soon as we had pushed the play button. With high-pitched Power Metal type vocals and staccato played guitar riffs. Yum-fuckin’-yum! The song in question is titled Battle of Egos, Part I, which is one of the seven songs on the band’s self-released 2009 EP Battle of Egos. That is the band’s debut release too, despite that they’ve been around since 2000.
Even though the band’s tunes have a highly professional sound to them, we were somewhat surprised by the high quality of the video accompanying it. “How can a relatively unknown band like this afford such a pro vid shooting session?” we wondered. Well, turns out we didn’t fuckin’ read the text that preceded the actual clip in the video.
What that text says, is that the band won a contest, issued by a radio station to Hard Rock and Metal bands on the island of Crete. Winner got a video clip production by the Atheaton Productions Company. Guess who won?
Finally, here’s the band’s official ReverbNation page, where you can find more info about the band and hear some more of the band’s kick ass material. Check the fucker out!

I’m with you on that. Still, their release has been out for nearly 2 years already. Let’s hope their stuff is picked up!
